Union Minister for the Ministry 2 of the President’s Office U Ko Ko Hlaing attended the 2025 Korea-ASEAN Policy Exchange Community International Government Policy Dialogue, held at the Shangri-La Hotel in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on 12 and 13 November, and delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.

On 13 November, the Union minister delivered a keynote speech at the first session of the policy dialogue under the theme “Korea-ASEAN Strategic Alliance Toward ASEAN Vision 2045.” He stated that the partnership between the Republic of Korea and ASEAN countries is very important and has enabled close cooperation for decades. He added that Myanmar aims to transform this strategic alliance into a relationship capable of setting long-term goals through short-term projects. He highlighted four key areas for future cooperation: food security; technology and innovation; disaster management; and efforts to combat transnational crimes such as human trafficking, illicit drugs, cybercrime, and illicit trade.

The Union minister also outlined ways to further strengthen cooperation between ASEAN and the Republic of Korea in the economic, political, security, and cultural sectors, which he noted are essential for regional peace and stability.

The 2025 Korea-ASEAN Policy Exchange Community International Government Policy Dialogue was attended by ministers and ambassadors from ASEAN countries, as well as policymakers from the Republic of Korea and Australia, along with international researchers and scholars.

After the event, Union Minister U Ko Ko Hlaing returned to Yangon by air on 14 November.
