Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr Wah Wah Maung yesterday received the representatives of the China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar at the Directorate of Investment and Companies Administration in Yangon.

During the meeting, the Union Minister said China and Myanmar are member countries of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), and the two countries have also signed the Myanmar-China Agreement on the Promotion and Protection of Investment. She added that investments are being protected under this agreement, and efforts will continue to provide support to ensure smooth and convenient business operations. She emphasized the importance of investments that contribute to a shared economic community throughout the supply chain. She highlighted the implementation of the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor (CMEC) to enhance bilateral border trade and connectivity between the two countries. She was invited to make an investment in Myanmar and work on operations to make an investment using the yuan.

The Yangon Region Economic Affairs Minister briefed on the proper supports for investment and ongoing work plans, and the representatives of the China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar coordinated the discussion.

At noon, the Union minister attended the knowledge sharing programmes on ASEAN Community Vision 2045 and ASEAN Economic Community Strategic Plan – 2026-2030 jointly organized by the ministry and Myanmar Women Entrepreneurs’ Association (MWEA) at Sedona Hotel in Yangon.

During the event, the Union Minister highlighted the role of the private sector as it is a main driver in implementing the ASEAN Economic Community, and the need to create economic integration and opportunities in the region through collaboration between the government and the private sector.

The participants then discussed the ASEAN Economic Community Strategic Plan – 2026-2030 and the proper participation of the private sector in the ASEAN Economic Community.
