SOUTH Korean businessmen are expressing strong interest in expanding their businesses and investments in Myanmar, according to the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations (MIFER).

The interest was highlighted on 29 October during a meeting with the delegation of the Myanmar-Korea Economic and Security Research Association (MERS) and MERS Chairman Choi ShiniL made these remarks.

Choi also discussed investment opportunities in Myanmar, the benefits of the law on investment, terms and conditions of legal support and the investment process.

Similarly, the Union Minister for the MIFER, Dr Wah Wah Maung, discussed that investment issues for Korean businesses will be assisted in accordance with the Myanmar Investment Law and Rules.

During the meeting, the Myanmar-Korea officials openly discussed the investment opportunities that South Korea could bring in the near future.

South Korea is currently ranked 6th in terms of foreign investors and 9th in terms of trade with Myanmar, according to the data released.
