Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr Wah Wah Maung received a delegation led by Ms Gwyn Lewis, the United Nations Interim Resident Coordinator and ad interim Humanitarian Coordinator (UNRCO) for Myanmar, yesterday morning at Office 1 of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations.
They exchanged views and discussed matters relating to the cooperation between the government entities and UN agencies for the more effective and efficient implementation of the UN’s projects in Myanmar.
Furthermore, alongside the cooperative activities being undertaken by the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, the Union Minister, acting as the International Cooperation Working Committee under the National Natural Disaster Management Committee, which was formed for earthquake recovery work, proposed and negotiated with the new United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator (UNRCO) a.i. to include the government’s priority projects for earthquake response and recovery into the UN’s ongoing work plans.
The meeting was attended by the Director General of the Union Minister’s Office, the Deputy Director General of the Foreign Economic Relations Department, senior officials from the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, and representatives from the UNRCO Myanmar office.
