AN association for durian growers and exporters has been successfully formed in Taninthayi Region, according to the Myanmar Fruit, Flower and Vegetable Producer and Exporter Association (MFVP).

At the inauguration ceremony held on 5 September, more than 80 farmers from the four districts of Taninthayi Region attended, and an association was established with 21 executive members. The association aims to provide market information and help develop a robust market.

Under the leadership of the MFVP, the Myanmar Durian Growers and Exporters Association (Taninthayi Region) was formed, and similar organizations have been established in Yangon, Bago, and Ayeyawady regions, and Kayin, and Mon states.

In the 2024-2025 financial year, Taninthayi cultivated 10,543 acres of durians, 10,211 of which have reached the harvesting stage. The average yield per acre in Taninthayi Region is 4,457 durians.
