The Union of Myanmar Travel Association (UMTA) has invited its members to visit the Akha swing-riding festival, which will be held in Kengtung, Shan State, on 23-26 August.
It is a traditional festival that symbolizes tradition and unity, and the tour group will be flying from Yangon to Kengtung on 23 August.
Travel destinations include pagodas and monasteries on the first day, and Naungngin village on the Kengtung-Mongla road on 24 August, which will be followed by visiting a historic pagoda in Wamhnyut-Wamshan village and dining on the eve of the swing-riding festival.
On 25 August, the group will participate in the opening ceremony of the swing-riding festival in Kengtung, visit the ancient city wall and a Sawbwa’s tomb, then continue to a 100-year-old tea farm in Katphakyayba village, rice-liquor producing Wamkan village, Kengtung waterfall and the Arkatha Resort.
The programme on 26 August is scheduled to visit Mount Loimwe (5,542 feet high), a 100-year-old colonial house, Mount Pankwe, Buddha’s Garden, Standing Buddha Image, churches, and hot springs, and tasting local foods, and dining at Mount Thittapin before flying back to Yangon.
