The Ministry of Information held an award presentation ceremony yesterday to honour the offspring of staff who passed the 2024-2025 matriculation exam.
Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn and his wife, Deputy Minister U Ye Tint and his wife, the permanent secretary, departmental officials, students, and their families attended the event.
The Union minister made a speech and presented medals and cash prizes to two students who passed the exam with five distinctions.
The wife of the Union minister presented awards to two students with four distinctions, the deputy minister to two students with four distinctions, the wife of the deputy minister to one student with four distinctions and one student with three distinctions. Moreover, officials also presented awards to students with three distinctions and one distinction.
In the 2024-2025 academic year, there were 73 offspring of the ministry’s staff who passed without any distinction, while 10 with one distinction, two with two distinctions, seven with three distinctions, five with four distinctions and three with five distinctions. The ministry awarded K50,000 per student who passed the exam and K100,000 each for one distinction, totalling K10,650,000.
The Union minister and the party visited the ministry staff and families living in temporary container housing. He inspected accommodation, hygienic living and unity, access to electricity and water, and provided cash assistance for children in those families.
