AS the Pro Tem President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, U Myint Swe, who had received intensive medical treatment at the Special Intensive Care Unit of No 2 Defence Services General Hospital (1,000-bed), passed away yesterday morning, his funeral ceremony will be held with State honours.

A coordination meeting to hold the funeral service of the Pro Tem President as a State funeral service took place at the office of the Prime Minister yesterday evening, with an address by the Chairman of the Funeral Service Organizing Leading Committee, Prime Minister U Nyo Saw.

Speaking at the meeting, the Prime Minister said that the Pro Tem President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, U Myint Swe, passed away yesterday morning. Hence, a plan is underway to hold his funeral ceremony with State honours. So, the National Defence and Security Council Office formed the leading and work committees to organize the national-level funeral service. Moreover, 11 relevant working committees have been formed. Hence, they all have to cooperate in holding the national-level ceremony without weaknesses.

The Prime Minister continued that relevant committees have to serve their duties and functions at full capacity to successfully organize the national-level ceremony. Moreover, it is important for all to connect in the work process and take necessary preparatory measures to carry out all tasks on time successfully.

First Vice-Chair of the Leading Committee, Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung discussed preparatory measures to be taken along the route of the funeral ceremony, systematic process for initiation, accommodation and transport sectors, cleanliness and tidiness along the route of the ceremony and cooperation among relevant committees.

Second Vice-Chair General Kyaw Swa Lin reported on preparations for the ceremony and accommodation, formulation of the reserved plans for the ceremony, and arrangements for managing the cleanliness and tidiness along the route due to the rainy season.

Committee members discussed preparations to successfully hold the ceremony and further plans.

The Prime Minister coordinated discussions and reports and gave a concluding remark.

The meeting was also attended by committee members, Union Ministers, the Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman, deputy ministers and departmental officials.
