The online workshop on establishing a Social Management Information System (SMIS) was held yesterday morning.
Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Win Myat Aye, Deputy minister U Soe Aung, Permanent Secretary Dr Ko Ko Naing, Directors-General, officials of relevant ministries, partner associations and private organizations took part in the workshop.
In his discussion, the Union Minister talked about the encouragement of the government in applying e-Government system, changing the digital culture for regular social protection of the ministry, the importance of Social Management Information System, a tender system for analyzing the requirement, drawing designs and establishing the system, works of the advisory team of bid winner, the Development Pathways, plans to be sustainable technical and financing and completion in fixed duration.
The UNICEF representative to Myanmar Ms June Jaungi made a remark on the establishment of SMIS while the officials of the Ministry of Health and Sports, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Transport and Communications and Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population respectively discussed their experience in establishing the system.
Director-General for Social Welfare Department Dr San San Aye, Director for Social Protection Division and officials of Development Pathways presented the plans for the establishment of SMIS and the Deputy Director coordinated the discussion.
