Wa Special Region-2 donated K200 million for COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities to Peace Commission at National Reconciliation and Peace Centre (NRPC) yesterday morning.
Peace Commission Chair Dr Tin Myo Win made an opening speech at the ceremony, saying that “I would like to thank for the donation of Wa Special Region-2 during this hard time. Time is important in healthcare industry and the next one is medicine. We lose lives and properties and also have to solve all the social affairs during the second wave of COVID-19. We need all medical supplies like oxygen, PPEs, masks and even gloves. So, today donation is such a supportive measure for us during the virulent wave of COIVD-19.”
U Aik San Shwe, representative of Wa Special Region -2 handed over K200 million for COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities to Peace Commission Chair Dr Tin Myo Win and received the certificate of honour.
The representative of Wa Special Region-2 U Aik San Shwe briefed the donation that, “We donated K200 million by connecting with Peace Commission Deputy Chair U Thein Zaw as the numbers of positive cases continuously rising in Myanmar. Although the cash amount is not large, it is the genuine goodwill of our Wa Special Region-2. We will keep supporting Myanmar regarding the forthcoming disasters and pandemic as much as we can.”
Secretary of the Peace Commission Lt-Gen Khin Zaw Oo (Rtd) expressed words of thanks by saying the Committee for Coordination with Ethnic Armed Organizations in measures against COVID-19 was organized by the government and provided the EAOs for three times by using K190 million. The Peace Commission is still arranging to provide the needed aids. Wa Special Region-2 also donated for flood victims in 2018 and such doings were very supportive in peace processes.
The Peace Commission donated a total of K190 million for COVID-19 protection measures between July and October. Wa Special Region-2 donated to Peace Commission K440 million for flood victims in August 2018 and now K200 million for COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities.
