UNDER the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, efforts to combat the illicit trade are continued effectively by the law.

On 9 and 10 March, the combined teams impounded four trucks and six tractor heads with six trailers (worth approximately K525 million) carrying industrial materials, consumer goods and foodstuffs (valued at K248.777 million) without official documents near Hpa-an Industrial Zone of Hpa-an Township, and an unregistered vehicle and an unregistered motorbike (estimated value of K6 million) in Taungdwingyi and Magway Townships. The action was taken under the Export-Import Law and Customs procedures.

On 11 March, the combined on-duty teams seized two unregistered vehicles and an unregistered motorbike (estimated value of K31.5 million) in Sagaing and Shwebo Townships, a wooden boat (estimated value of K18 million) that was used in illegal fishing in Kawthoung Township and an unregistered motorbike (estimated value of K4 million) in Dawei Township. The action was conducted under the Export-Import Law and the Myanmar Marine Fisheries Law.

Additionally, the on-duty teams confiscated 1.866 tonnes of illegal hardwood (worth K570,070) in Taikkyi Township, four unregistered motorbikes (valued at K20 million) in North Okkalapa, Thingangyun, Insein and North Dagon Townships, four unregistered vehicles (worth approximately K42 million) in Belin, Kyaikto, Mudon and Mawlamyine Townships, and 71 barrels of illegal diesel (worth about K41.4 million) that were piled up by the side of Inya Road in Mawlamyine. The action was taken under the Forest Law, the Export-Import Law and the Petroleum and Petroleum Products Law.

Similarly, the joint on-duty teams nabbed a Hino Profia truck (estimated value of K50 million) carrying industrial materials (worth K15.077 million) without official documents in Waw Township and industrial materials (worth K113.1 million) without official documents from two containers at the Myanmar Industrial Port. The action was conducted under the Customs procedure.

The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported 50 arrests on three consecutive days from 9 to 11 March, with illegal goods worth approximately K1,115 million.
