Senior Officials of Myanmar-India Joint Trade Committee organized 7th meeting online yesterday.
The meeting was chaired by Director-General of the Department of Commerce of the Ministry of Commerce U Min Min and Joint Secretary of the Department of Commerce of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India Mr Led by Anant Swarup.
The meeting discussed the review of the bilateral trade in the previous years and increase bilateral trade; areas of greater cooperation to raise Myanmar’s exports to India, including pulses, and to boost trade between Myanmar and India; to attract more India investment in Myanmar and India’s participation in supporting Myanmar’s textile sector to penetrate the world market; accelerate the flow of goods along the Myanmar-India trade route and upgrade roads and bridges along the trade route.
They also discussed the capacity building of departmental staff and the provision of technology from India in the agricultural sector.
The meeting was a mutually beneficial and successful senior officials’ meeting which discussed the ways to improve trade and cooperation between the two nations based on the strong friendship between Myanmar and India.
