A relief flight of MAI brought 145 Myanmar seamen with finished contract of JSM International Ltd under the arrangement of Myanmar Embassy in Seoul and the company, and it landed at Yangon International Airport yesterday. The 10th relief flight of MAI arranged by Myanmar Embassy in Riyadh to bring back Myanmar nationals stuck in Oman, Bahrain and UAE arrived in Yangon, carrying 165 Myanmar nationals on the same day.
Among these returnees, 4 Myanmar nationals were from Bahrain while 7 each from Qatar and Oman, 84 from UAE, 6 from Sri Lanka, 2 each from Norway and Britain, 3 from Italy, 6 from South Africa, 1 each from Austria and Bangladesh, 4 from Russia, 3 from French and 35 seamen from UAE and Qatar. The Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, the Ministry of Health and Sports and the Yangon Region government arranged 7-day quarantine at specific places or designated hotels, followed by the 7-day home quarantine.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been working with Myanmar embassies in foreign countries and local ministries concerned to bring back the Myanmar citizens and seamen stranded abroad due to the suspension of commercial flights, in accordance with the guidance of the National-Level Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of COVID-19.
