As the full moon of Tazaungmone which coincides with Samañaphala Day is one of the significant days of Buddhism, Myanmar people have been preserving a good tradition with lighting activities in the Tazaungdine festival yearly.

Buddhists observe the Sabbath by meditating, reciting the Pathana and Paritta, offering Kathina robes to the Sangha, and visiting religious monuments on that significant day.

Yesterday evening, Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, and Daw Than Than Nwe, wife of SAC Vice-Chairman Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win, Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Maung Maung Aye and his wife, senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives, and Union-level dignitaries and their wives, lit oil lamps, offered flowers and water dedicated to the Lord Buddha at Shwephonepwint Pagoda in Zeyathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory as enjoying the Tazaungdine lighting festival.

Roads, buildings and trees in the compound of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) were illuminated with multi-colour lighting to mark the Tazaungdine lighting festival. Families of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) happily enjoyed the festival.

Religious edifices in regions and states hosted Tazaungdine lighting festivals. Moreover, people joined ceremonies to pay homage to Shin Uppagutta, set oil lamps afloat on the water, offer Mathoe robes to members of the Sangha and Buddha images, and donate rice to members of the Sangha. Moreover, people participated in the charity fairs.

In the evening, well-wishers donated Cassia bud salad to each other while some people freely discarded property for all.

During the Tazaungdine holidays, resorts, beaches and parks in regions and states were crowded with holiday-makers.
