THE eighth International Scientific and Practical Conference titled “Topical Issues of Human Rights Protection in Health Care” was held on 10 October in Moscow, the Russian Federation, in a hybrid format.
Representatives of human rights commissions from 56 countries attended the conference in person, including representatives from the human rights commissions of Tajikistan and Kazakhstan, as well as Myanmar National Human Rights Commission Chairman U Paw Lwin Sein and Commission members Dr Than Myint and Dr Tin Maung Maung Than, and staff, who participated via videoconferencing.
The conference discussed country-specific measures and developments related to the protection of human rights in the health sector.
Additionally, the Chairman of the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission emphasized that the right to healthcare is a fundamental human right, asserting that health care is not a special privilege but a basic right that belongs to everyone.
He also highlighted domestically enacted laws that emphasize health rights and the broader healthcare sector.
