Myanmar hosted the 18th ASEAN Navy Chiefs’ Meeting (18th ANCM) at M-Gallery Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw on 10 October, and the high-ranking naval officials and representatives of Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines attended the event.
Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Vice-Admiral Htein Win presided over the meeting, and a Welcome Video Clip was screened.
The Navy Chiefs and high-ranking naval officials of Myanmar, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam discussed the theme Sailing Together: Harmony to Peace and Prosperity in person, whereas the Navy Chiefs of Singapore, the Philippines, and Thailand via the Video Teleconference (VTC) and Navy Chiefs of Indonesia and Malaysia via video message.
Then, they openly discussed information exchange and future activities and approved the meeting minutes.
The Commander-in-Chief (Navy) made a conclusion remark and concluded the meeting.
He met ASEAN naval high-ranking officials and delegates separately. He discussed the enhancement of relations between the two naval forces, friendly cooperation among ASEAN countries, further collaboration in humanitarian and natural disaster prevention activities, and close cooperation of the two navies. Similarly, the delegates led by ASEAN high-ranking officials also met separately.
The Commander-in-Chief (Navy) hosted a dinner and handed over the chairmanship of the 19th ANCM to Malaysia.
Afterwards, they posed for documentary photos.
During the visit to Myanmar, ASEAN high-ranking naval officials and delegates visited Memorial to the Fallen Heroes (Nay Pyi Taw), Maravijaya, the world’s tallest sitting marble Buddha image, Uppatasanti pagoda, white elephant camp, Gem Museum, National Museum (Nay Pyi Taw), souvenir shop of navy bases at M-Gallery Hotel, Shwedagon pagoda, Bogyoke market and Junction City in Yangon.
ASEAN high-ranking naval officials and delegates to the 18th ANCM left Nay Pyi Taw yesterday, and senior Tatmadaw (Navy) officers saw them off at the airport.
