UNDER the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, efforts to combat illicit trade continue effectively in accordance with the law.

On 6 and 7 October, combined teams seized an unregistered Toyota Caldina (valued at approximately K7 million) at the Taungsinaye checkpoint in Lewe Township and an I-Zone light truck (estimated value of K18 million), travelling from Hpa-an to Thaton, which was carrying a variety of car parts worth K1.009 million without official documentation at the Thanlwin Bridge combined checkpoint (Tayokhla side). The action was taken under the Export-Import Law and Customs procedures.

Similarly, combined teams made further inspections, seizing four types of motorbike parts worth K6.003 million that were stockpiled in Kawthoung Township, an unregistered Suzuki Ciaz (estimated value of K7 million) in Dawei Township, and an unregistered Daihatsu Hijet (estimated value of K6 million) at the Yadanabon Bridge checkpoint in Sagaing Township. The action was carried out under the Export-Import Law.

Additionally, combined teams managed by the Bago Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force conducted further inspections. They seized illegal teak weighing 0.586 tonne and other illegal hardwoods weighing 5.390 tonnes, with a total value of K9,984,692, in Nyaunglebin and Pyay Districts. They also seized a Nissan diesel tractor head with a trailer worth K60 million, which was transporting two types of industrial materials worth K10.6 million from Thamanya to Yangon at the Nyaungkhashay x-ray station. The action was taken under the Export-Import Law and Customs procedures.

The Illegal Trade Eradica tion Steering Committee reported that nine arrests were made on 6 and 7 October, resulting in the seizure of illegal goods worth approximately K125 million.
