Myanma Railways has resumed high-speed passenger and mail train services between Yangon and Mandalay, commencing on 3 October, after a temporary suspension due to floods across regions and states, including Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, according to the service organization.
The Yangon-Mandalay No 11 Up train, Mandalay-Yangon No 12 Down passenger train, Yangon-Mandalay No 1 Up mail train, and Mandalay-Yangon No 2 Down mail train all resumed services on 3 October. Similarly, freight trains operated as usual on 4 October.
On 2 October, the Thaedaw-Thabyaytaung Up railway was reopened at 7:26 pm. Moreover, passenger and mail trains have reinitiated normal operations. The Yangon-Mandalay express train will run on Fridays or Sundays, depending on the situation.
The Yangon-Mandalay railway and bridges were damaged due to heavy rainfall in Typhoon Yagi, resulting in the suspension of train services effective on 11 September.
