A ceremony to donate rice bags to those affected by Typhoon Yagi, which struck the South China Sea, was held yesterday afternoon at the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement. Union Minister Dr Soe Win received the donations, expressed gratitude, and presented certificates of appreciation.

In collaboration with the International Relations Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Disaster Management Committee facilitated the donation of 4,000 rice bags weighing 100 tonnes and valued at K200 million from U Wan Jia Hua (aka) U Myint Swe, a businessperson from the Cambodian DV Group. Additionally, 400 rice bags weighing 10 tonnes and worth K20 million were donated by Chein Chwin of Senachy Cooperation Co Ltd.

On behalf of the donors, the director-general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other officials handed over the rice to the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement for prompt distribution to the flood-impacted areas.
