Heavy rainfalls triggered by Typhoon Yagi ravaged rail tracks and bridges on theYangon-Mandalay section. Officials conducted repair works to resume train services that were suspended starting on 13 September, and repairing processes were completed for the Yangon-Thazi rail track. Therefore, the passenger train and freight train services resumed on 20 September.
Along the Yangon-Thazi rail section, the No 11-Up train will leave Yangon Railway Station at 5 am on 21 September, and the No 12-Down train will depart at 6 am from Thazi Railway Station. Trains will stop at all railway stations. Ticket fees are K17,000 per head for the upper class and K9,000 per head for the ordinary class.
Myanma Railways is making efforts to reopen the Thazi-Mandalay railway as rapidly as possible, and train operations from Yangon to Mandalay will restart in the not-distant future.
