UNDER the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, authorities recently conducted successful operations, seizing numerous illicit consumer goods and vehicles across various regions.

Between 16 and 17 September, Customs Department inspection teams at the Myanmar Industrial Port uncovered 12 types of undeclared consumer goods and two types of industrial items valued at K174.5 million across ten containers. Similarly, at the Asia World Port Terminal’s container checkpoint, six containers were found containing undeclared goods valued at K129.4 million. At the Dry Port in Ywathagyi, two trucks transporting industrial items worth K81 million, along with the trucks themselves valued at K70 million, were confiscated for lacking proper documentation.

On 17 September, officials in Mon State seized another truck in Mawlamyine transporting consumer goods worth K13.2 million, along with a Nissan Diesel tractor head and a trailer valued at K85 million.

In the Mandalay Region, inspections led to the seizure of consumer and industrial goods worth K11.2 million, which were transported in a Yutong bus valued at K65 million. Another case saw the confiscation of K9.9 million worth of consumer goods and a Hino Profia truck valued at K30 million.

On 18 September, an unregistered Toyota Crown worth K4 million was seized in Insein, Yangon, under the Export and Import Law. In North Okkalapa, a truck carrying 0.939 tonnes of illegal timber valued at K826,496 was also intercepted, along with the Toyota Hiace valued at K5 million.

In Bago Region, authorities seized an unregistered Nissan Note valued at K5 million and over 4.395 tonnes of illegal timber valued at K3.9 million.

In total, between 16 and 18 September, authorities successfully confiscated illegal goods in 21 cases valued at K688 million, as reported by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
