Myanmar brings back its citizens stuck in Malaysia

As they arrived in Yangon, officials from the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, the Ministry of Health and Sports, and the Yangon Region government helped for their 21-day quarantine period in line with the regulations of immigration and medical checks.

To bring back the Myanmar citizens who are stranded in foreign countries by relief flights and chartered flights following the instructions of National-Level Central Committee on Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs cooperated with the relevant ministries and Myanmar embassies from respective countries. The Myanmar Embassy in Kuala Lumpur cooperates with the relevant organizations of Malaysia in accordance with the instructions of Ministry of Foreign Affairs to send back the undocumented Myanmar nationals and those detained at cells by relief flights and has organized 13 relief flights to pick up Myanmar nationals stuck in Malaysia to date.

Myanmar repatriates nationals from abroad on relief flights

MYANMAR embassy in Singapore organized a relief flight in bringing the nationals back home.

The 17th special flight of Myanmar National Airlines landed at Yangon International Airport with 148 citizens who were stranded in Singapore due to suspension of international flights.

A relief flight of Myanmar Airways International arranged by the Myanmar embassy in the Manila brought back 10 citizens in the Philippines and other 22 Myanmar seamen landed in the Philippines after they worked on the MV Alonissos of the Sea Traders S.A shipping company in Greece. The flight arrive in Yangon in the afternoon.

As they arrived in Yangon, officials from the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, the Ministry of Health and Sports, and the Yangon Region government helped for their 21-day quarantine period in line with the regulations of immigration and medical checks.

For the repatriation of Myanmar citizens who were stranded in foreign countries by relief flights and chartered flights in accordance with the instructions from National-Level Central Committee on Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs cooperated with the relevant ministries and Myanmar embassies from respective countries.

Myanmar brings back its citizens stuck in Japan, ROK

AN All Nippon Airways (ANA) quarantine centre relief flight brought 133 Myanmar citizens from Narita International Airport in Japan and landed at Yangon International Airport yesterday evening.

Another relief flight of Myanmar National Airlines (MNA) arrived in Yangon, carrying 140 seafarers who have signed off from a ship of JSM International Shipping Company Limited and stranded in Korea under the arrangement of Myanmar Embassy in Seoul and JSM International Shipping Company Limited on the same day.

As they arrived in Yangon, officials from the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, the Ministry of Health and Sports, and the Yangon Region government helped for their 21-day quarantine period in line with the regulations of immigration and medical checks. Myanmar brings 151 nationals back home by relief flight

A relief flight of Myanmar National Airlines landed at Yangon International Airport yesterday evening, bringing back 151 Myanmar nationals stranded in Singapore. As they arrived in Yangon, officials from the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, the Ministry of Health and Sports, and the Yangon Region government helped for their 21-day quarantine period in line with the regulations of immigration and medical checks.

For the repatriation of Myanmar citizens who were stranded in foreign countries by relief flights and chartered flights in accordance with the instructions from National-Level Central Committee on Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs cooperated with the relevant ministries and Myanmar embassies from respective countries, and has organized 16 relief flights to pick up Myanmar nationals stuck in Singapore to date.

MoI strives to form Myanmar Digital Media Association

UNION Minister for Information Dr Pe Myint met the persons related to media sector at the Central Press building of the Printing and Publishing Department (PPD) on Theinbyu Road in Yangon yesterday, and discussed the emergence of Myanmar Digital Media Association.

Spoke on occasion, the Union Minister stressed the meeting organized two weeks ago has discussed the formation of the Establishment Committee on Myanmar Digital Media Association.

Many people have been working in digital media businesses because of their development. Therefore, an association relevant to digital media should be founded, the Union Minister added.

He said as the attendees are the persons related to digital media, they should participate in the formation committee on establishing Myanmar Media Association, calling for discussions and implementations on the involvement of those who should participate in the committee.

Today’s digital media are getting bigger and broader than traditional media, and all can see that they are not only reaching expansive such as news contents, entertainments, online shopping etc. but they are also growing economically. It is necessary to get more skills as well as to settle possible copyrights problems in this regard, he highlighted.

He added it is essential to have an organization that will operate with collective strength for developing digital media businesses and getting full rights in working with international organizations and institutions, calling for a round of discussions to emerge a digital media association.

Information and Public Relations Department Acting Director-General U Aye Kywe reported on the plan to form the Establishment Committee on Myanmar Digital Media Association.

The 17-member committee was set up and consisted of Chairman U Thaung Su Nyein, Vice-Chairperson 1 U Ko Ko (Ko Ko-RIT), Vice-Chairperson 2 Daw Nant Kalayar Win, Secretary U Min Swe Hlaing, Joint Secretary 1 U Kyaw Myo Min, Joint Secretary 2 IPRD Deputy Director U Aung Kyaw Htet.

The committee office is temporarily open at the second floor of IPRD Office at No 22/24 on Pansodan Road in Yangon.

The committee will be working on the formation of Myanmar Digital Media Association within its targeted six-month implementation period.

Present at the meeting were U Thaung Su Nyein of 7 Day Media, U Ko Ko (Ko Ko-RIT) of Yangon TV, Daw Nant Kalayar Win from Popular News Agency, U Kyaw Min Swe of The Voice, U Min Swe Hlaing of Global Innovation Media, U Thein Tun Pe of Cytron Computer, U Lin Htet Ko of We Media, U Aung Myo Myint of Myanmar Celebrity, U Khin Maung Soe of DVB, U Moe Aye of One News, U Kyaw Myo Min of A Kon Thi News Agency, U Han Thar Nyein of Kamayut Media, U Win Hlaing Oo of Wun Zinn Application, U Ko Ko Lay of San Daw Chain, U Thet Phyo Aung of Cele Gabar, and U Kyaw Soe Htet of The Myanmar Times. They discussed systematic development of digital media in line with changing technologies, protecting and promoting the interests of digital media users, the routine use of digital media following its media ethics, sharing knowledge and technologies, and the matters to form a Myanmar Digital Media Association.

U Aye Maung Kyaw (Aye Maung Kyaw) and U Than Ohn (Maung Zeyar) of Myanmar Affairs Study Group also attended the meeting.

In the morning, the Union Minister inspected the operations at PPD-owned office building at No 379/383 on Bo Aung Kyaw Road and the headquarters of News and Periodicals Enterprise (NPE) at No 212 on Theinbyu Road in Yangon.

While meeting with Forever Group CEO U Win Maw Tun and officials, the Union Minister listened to the report on preparations for the construction of infrastructure facilities including studios to shoot and broadcast MTV about environmental conservation and greening in Pindaya region of Danu Self-Administered Zone. The Union Minister discussed the assistance the Ministry of Information will provide in this regard.

53 Myanmar nationals stranded in Thailand fly back home by relief flight

A relief flight by Myanmar National Airlines bringing back 53 Myanmar nationals stranded in Thailand landed at the Yangon International Airport last night.

As they arrived in the airport, the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, the Ministry of Health and Sports and the Yangon Region government arranged proper medical checkups and 21- day quarantine for them. To bring back Myanmar nationals stranded in foreign nations by relief flights and chartered flights in accordance with the instructions from National-Level Central Committee on Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs cooperated with the relevant ministries and Myanmar embassies from respective nations, and a total of 7 relief flights from Thailand have landed at Myanmar to date.

Government of Japan provides medical supplies to MoHS

THE Japanese government and its people donated 9.3 million Yen worth of medicines and medical supplies to help Myanmar in the fight against COVID-19, and the plane carrying medical supplies landed at Yangon International Airport yesterday morning.

Japanese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr. Maruyama Ichiro handed over the medical equipment to Professor Dr Zaw Than Tun, Director-General of Department of Medical Research and Dr Kyaw Khaing, Deputy Director-General and Head of International Relations Division under the Ministry of Health and Sports.

The Japanese Ambassador said: “The COVID-19 pandemic has been occurring all over the world. We can see Myanmar can control the outbreak well. The Japanese government appreciates the moves of Myanmar. But, there are some confirmed cases in Myanmar, and so we provide the medical supplies.

The medicines that we donated today are produced in Japan, and we will keep providing such medical supplies.” This donation is the first batch out of the 2 billion Yen assistance for medical equipment and facilities to help Myanmar’s response to the pandemic as part of the economic and social development programme of Japan in Myanmar.

“They donate medical equipment, including quality beds and suction machines which are used at ICU (Intensive Care Unit). Although our country controls the disease to a certain extent, we need to have such medical supplies to prevent the second wave of COVID-19 by looking at our neighbouring countries. So, we thank the Japanese government and its people for their donations,” said Director-General Professor Dr Zaw Than Tun.

The Japanese government cooperated with the Ministry of Health and Sports for malaria research and anti-malaria programmes before the outbreak of COVID-19 and also provided in upgrading testing laboratories during COVID-19 pandemic.

Moreover, JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) keeps providing the medicines and medical supplies in response to COVID-19, according to Deputy Director-General Dr Kyaw Khaing.

Film industry’s centenary steering committee discusses detailed planning

THE steering committee for successful holding of centenary for Myanmar’s motion picture industry organized a coordination meeting at the Mingalar Hall of Yangon Region Government in Yangon yesterday.

The meeting was attended by the steering committee’s chairman and Union Minister for Information Dr Pe Myint and members, sub-committees chairpersons and members, officials from broadcasting media and movie theatres, and guests.

Speaking at the event, the Union Minister said since May last year arrangements for Myanmar film industry’s centenary celebration had been made.

The centenary celebration is scheduled to be organized on 13 October following the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and Sports despite COVID-19 restrictions at present, he said.

He asked the Myanmar Motion Picture Organization (MMPO) patrons and officials to give suggestions on arrangements and courses of actions for organizing the centenary event.

Relevant sub-committees have been formed for the centenary celebration, and it is crucial to work on sector-wise procedures, he added.

He also discussed the formation of a working group so that sub-committees, working committee and steering committee can effectively cooperate.

The steering committee secretary and Information and Public Relations Department Acting Director-General U Aye Kywe reported the steering committee works and arrangements for the centenary celebration.

The steering committee member Yangon Region Security and Border Affairs Minister Colonel Win Tint and Development Affairs Minister U Maung Maung Soe, MMPO’s patrons U Kyi Soe Tun, U Aung Lwin, U Hnin Moe, U Aung Myint Myat and U Soe Moe, Myanma Radio and Television (MRTV) Director-General U Ye Naing, sub-committees chairpersons and secretaries, and broadcasting department officials discussed the matters related to the centenary celebrations, showing classic movies, organizing paper-reading sessions, the publication of the centenary magazine, displays of booths, and conducting public awareness activities. The meeting was concluded following the Union Minister’s remarks.

Myanmar citizens stranded in Australia arrive back home by relief flight

MYANMAR nationals, including seafarers, arrived back home by a relief flight of Myanmar National Airlines yesterday night after they were stranded in Australia due to suspension of international flights.

The return of 141 Myanmar citizens was arranged by Myanmar Embassy in Canberra.

On arrival at the airport, the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, the Ministry of Health and Sports and the Yangon Region government helped for their 21-day quarantine period at the designated places and the respective hotels in line with the guidelines of immigration and healthcare processes.

In accordance with the directives of National-Level Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in coordination with the Myanmar embassies abroad and other relevant ministries in Myanmar, has been organizing relief/special flights since the end of April 2020, and a total of 9,336 persons arrived back home under this programme.
