TWO police vehicles were damaged by remote-controlled explosive mines by the AA group in MraukU on 11 January, but no casualties were incurred.
The vehicles were carrying families of MraukU police officers back from the local market when the explosives were set off at 9:45 a.m. near Takya Mahn Aung Pagoda. Myanmar Police Force reports that while the vehicles were damaged no person was hurt.

AN art exhibition, entitled “Spiritual Heritage Great Bagan,” opened yesterday at the Anawrahta Art Gallery in Thuwunna, Thingangyun Township.
The exhibition was held in celebration of listing Myanmar’s ancient city of Bagan in the UNESCO heritage listing.
At the gallery, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Thura U Aung Ko delivered an opening address.

THE stake-driving ceremony for a five-storeyed building, Ananda Sukha Dhammacakka Dhamma Beikman, was held yesterday in the compound of the Dhammacakka Paripatti Yeiktha on Kabar Aye Pagoda Road in Yankin Township, Yangon.

THE annual gathering of former Ministry of Foreign Affairs staff was held at Rainbow Restaurant in Thingangyun Township, Yangon, yesterday evening.
Firstly, the Patron of the former staff group U Ohn Kyaw delivered the opening address and interim chairperson U Nyunt Swe and member U Nyan Win spoke welcoming remarks.

Japanese Ambassador Mr Maruyama Ichiro, his embassy officials and Film Promotion Division Director U Thein Naing attended the inauguration of the film festival at the cinema at 6 pm yesterday where they watched the Japanese film ‘Masquerade Hotel’.
