A CELEBRATION to mark the 71st Republic Day of India was held at the residence of Indian Ambassador in Dagon Township, Yangon yesterday.

First, the event was opened by playing the national anthems of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Republic of India. Afterwards, Indian Ambassador Mr Saurabh Kumar and Union Minister for Transport and Communications U Thant Sin Maung extended greetings.

At the event, the Union Minister and wife, and Indian Ambassador posed for a commemorative group photo with attendees, followed by a dinner hosted by the Ambassador.

Also present at the event were Union Minister for the Office of the State Counsellor U Kyaw Tint Swe and wife, Union Minister for International Cooperation U Kyaw Tin and wife, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein, Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy, Air) General Mya Tun Oo and wife, Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung and wife and Lt-Gen Min Naung and wife from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), Commander of Yangon Command Maj-Gen Thet Pon and wife, Deputy Minister for Defence Rear-Admiral Myint Nwe, Deputy Minister for Information U Aung Hla Tun and wife, Rakhine Ethnic Affairs Minister of Yangon Region U Zaw Aye Maung, high ranking Tatmadaw officers, ambassadors and charge d’affaires from embassies in Yangon, UN Resident representatives and invited guests.
