VENDORS selling local products are enjoying solid sales during the festival season of Shwesettaw Pagoda in Minbu (Saku) Township,Magway Region, according to local stallholders from market areas near Shwesettaw Pagoda, Sakkeintae Pagoda and Nagapwet Hill.

Minbu (Saku) Township is known for its revered pagodas, notable landmarks and many places for visitors to explore. Also, the area is rich in local produce. As a result, pilgrims and visitors from across the country travel to the festival season, which runs from the 5th waxing day of Tabodwe to the 1st day of the Myanmar New Year, and purchase local products as souvenirs to take home.

With large crowds of pilgrims visiting during the festival period, vendors are experiencing high demand. Popular items on sale include fried bean snacks, papara, wild vegetables, roots and herbal ingredients, sweet potatoes, thanaka logs, Chin traditional household items, Shwesettaw souvenir T-shirts, and various types of clay pots from Ywathaya Village prepared for the Thingyan period.

A local vendor from the Nagapwet Hill market area in Minbu said that sales have been very strong due to the busy festival season.
