Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Daw Nu Mra Zan attended a seminar on preservation and promotion management of traditional textile design for ASEAN at the Novotel Yangon Max Hotel in Yangon yesterday.
During the event, the deputy minister said that the management of preserving and promoting traditional textile designs is a particularly important issue today, whereas traditional skills such as designing patterns and hand weaving are facing the risk of disappearing with the rapid advancement of technology and the rise of industrial production.
The meeting would provide an opportunity for participating countries to present and share papers representing the respective nations, exchange best practices, and jointly discuss solutions to challenges encountered in preservation efforts. She also added that the weaving industry not only represents a source of pride for communities but also contributes to creating livelihood opportunities for the people.
Participants from ASEAN countries read out their papers regarding textile designs, preservation and promotion management.
