Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Aung Gyi yesterday inspected the activities of the Central Research and Development Centre for Livestock, the Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department in Insein Township, Yangon Region, and the buildings designated as dormitories for trainees.
He then met with students from the second batch of the Diploma in Veterinary Science course, encouraging them to work diligently to develop skilled human resources for the veterinary and livestock sectors. He also provided them with food and beverages to support their efforts.
In the afternoon, the deputy minister visited the Shwe Ngar Processing and Cold Storage Plant in Hlinethaya Industrial Zone II. He inspected the construction of a 500-tonne cold storage plant, the acceptance of goods, and the processes for freezing freshwater and saltwater fish for export to the UK, Italy, Belgium, the UAE, and Singapore.
At Glory One company limited in Zone VI, he reviewed the production of freshwater and saltwater fish, shrimp, dried fish, dried shrimp, and fried shrimp following market standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) systems for export to international markets, including Iraq, the UAE, Qatar, Malaysia, and Bangladesh.
He also visited Min Zar Ni Fisheries Co Ltd, where he observed the production of fish sticks, frozen freshwater and saltwater fish, and eel for export to Korea, Chinese Taipei, Japan, Hong Kong, and China. The deputy minister encouraged officials to promote exports in compliance with the market criteria of these countries.
