UNION Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing received a delegation led by Ms Gwyn Lewis, United Nations Resident Coordinator/ Humanitarian Coordinator ad interim in Myanmar, at the ministry’s reception hall in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

The two sides cordially and openly exchanged views on the ministry’s ongoing bilateral cooperation with the Government of Bangladesh regarding the repatriation of displaced persons from Rakhine State, the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the ministry and UNDP-UNHCR in connection with the process, arrangements for personnel from UN agencies in Maungtaw region and their family members to temporarily reside in Yangon until conditions stabilize, the need for UN agencies in Myanmar to brief the United Nations Headquarters using accurate information and facts on the current situation in the country, and the conditions under which the ministry will continue to cooperate and collaborate with UN organizations.

Also present at the meeting were Deputy Ministers U Lin Zaw Tun and Dr Khaing Khaing Soe, together with other officials.
