According to information from the Department for the Promotion and Propagation of the Sasana, the Most Venerable Dr Bhaddanta Ñāṇissara (Abhidhaja Mahā Rattha Guru, Abhidhaja Aggamahā Saddhammajotikadhaja, Aggamahā Paṇḍita, Aggamahā Saddhammajotikadhaja), aged 89 and Vassa 69, the Chief Abbot of Kusinara Myanmar Monastery in Kushinagar City, Uttar Pradesh, India, and Chairman of the India Paradaythi Sangha Nayaka Committee, passed away peacefully at 4:50 am (Indian Standard Time) on Friday, 31 October 2025 (11th Waxing of Tazaungmone, 1387 ME), at Medanta Hospital in Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh.
