ON 28 March, Myanmar was struck by a devastating earthquake, severely striking six regions and states. As of 19 May, the death toll has risen to 3,728, with 5,104 injured and 79 still missing.
Search and rescue operations, conducted by the Myanmar Fire Brigade alongside domestic and international rescue teams, have been carried out promptly in affected areas. To date, 653 survivors have been rescued from collapsed buildings, and the bodies of 805 deceased have been recovered.
Local donors have continued to support the affected communities with financial assistance and essential supplies, while international countries, organizations, and philanthropists are also contributing. On 16 May, the Indian Embassy delivered 20 cartons of Paracetamol weighing 0.285 tonne to Yangon International Airport, followed by 19 cartons of ointments and household medicines weighing 0.279 tonne on 19 May.
The donated medicines and medical supplies will be handed over to the Ministry of Health for use in healthcare services.
