Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn inspected the Nay Pyi Taw Printing Factory of the Printing and Publishing Department, newspaper publishing houses and staff housing of News and Periodicals Enterprise in Zeyathiri township in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
On arrival at the meeting hall of the Nay Pyi Taw Printing Factory, the Union minister heard the reports of the director-general of the Printing and Publishing Department and the managing director of the News and Periodicals Enterprise regarding the damage and repairs at the Nay Pyi Taw Printing Factory, newspaper publishing houses and staff housing, and regular circulation of newspaper despite the earthquake.
The Union minister highlighted the damage due to the Mandalay earthquake and stressed the need to construct buildings that can withstand natural disasters as they cannot be avoided. The staff and people should have disaster-related knowledge.
He also appreciated the staff for continuous broadcasting channels of the ministry and publishing the dailies despite the quake.
He then urged the staff to work together with proper understanding as the ministry is a focal institution that offers services to the public.
He inspected the Nay Pyi Taw Printing Factory compound, damaged staff housing, the Kyemon (Mirror) Daily house, Bo Waziya hall, printing machines and CTP, and comforted the staff.
The Union minister received the second batch of relief items donated by CITIC Group (Myanmar) Co Ltd at the meeting hall of the ministry yesterday morning. The Union minister expressed gratitude, and Vice-Chair Mr Piao Bo and Mr Ma Chanfu of CITIC Group (Myanmar) Co Ltd presented relief items to the Union minister who returned the certificate of honour.
