As the Myanmar government continues rescue and relief efforts in earthquake-affected regions by welcoming the International humanitarian aids, more aids are coming in.
A Malaysian Airlines aircraft carrying personal hygiene items and tarpaulin sheets donated by the Malaysian government landed at Yangon International Airport at around 10:20 am yesterday. The Disaster Management Department under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement accepted the supplies.
Later, at around 3:05 pm, two Bangladeshi military aircraft delivered aid including rice and beans on behalf of the Bangladeshi government. Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Myanmar Dr Md Monwar Hossain formally handed over the donations, which Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein received it.
At 5:44 pm, a Vietnam Airlines flight from Hanoi arrived at Yangon International Airport carrying a 106-member Vietnamese rescue team, including eight search-and-rescue dogs, and 11,639 kilogrammes of relief supplies. Vietnamese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Ly Quoc Tuan, along with Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and regional ministers welcomed the team at the airport.
The relief supplies were promptly loaded onto designated vehicles by Tatmadaw men, Yangon City Development Committee staff and local logistics workers and then sent to affected areas under the supervision of the Yangon Region government.
