Member of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Defence General Maung Maung Aye, accompanied by ministry officials, visited the housing and temporary evacuation areas of the ministry’s personnel and staff affected by the strong earthquake and met their families yesterday evening.

The General and his team first met and encouraged the staff and their family members of the ministry residing in the Wunna Theikdi Housing Complexes (1, 2, 3, and 4), which the inspection teams from the Ministry of Construction’s Department of Buildings determined to be fit for re-occupancy, and instructed the responsible officials to take strict measures to fulfil the employees’ needs, including drinking water and sustenance.

The Union minister and his team proceeded to the local training school where employees and their families from Padauk Housing Complex (603), (755), (756) and Acre Tahtaung Housing Complex (1394) were temporarily evacuated because the teams from the Ministry of Construction’s Department of Buildings determined their housing complexes were not suitable for re-occupancy. The General met and spoke to the staff and their families, instructing officials to take strict measures to ensure they have access to sufficient drinking water, adequate food, medical treatment, and other necessities, and to coordinate based on the reported needs of family members.
