As of 8 April, six regions and states in Myanmar that were severely affected by the powerful earthquake on 28 March have reported a total of 3,591 deaths, 4,814 injuries, and 148 people still missing.
Myanmar’s Fire Brigade alongside both domestic and international rescue teams have been conducting urgent search and rescue operations in affected areas. These efforts led to the rescue of 653 survivors and the recovery of 712 deceased individuals trapped under collapsed buildings.
Generous donors from home and abroad continue to provide financial and material support to those affected. Between the afternoon of 7 April and 8 April, five aircraft from Belarus, China, Vietnam, Singapore, and Laos arrived at Yangon International Airport and Nay Pyi Taw International Airport, carrying 60.46 tonnes of relief supplies.
Efforts are underway to ensure these donated relief items reach the hands of affected people as quickly and efficiently as possible.
