Today, the most important thing I want to report to the people regarding COVID-19 is that the “Stay at home” order issued for certain townships is still in force; especially in Yangon. Just because we have given permission for some factories, workplaces, as well as factories and workplaces which are important for the economy in the long term, to resume operations if they abided by the rules and regulations that we have issued, does not mean that the “Stay at home” order is no longer in effect as some might think.

The Ministry of Health and Sports organized the National Launching on Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccine Introduction yesterday. The launching ceremony for central-level was organized at the Myanmar International Convention Centre-II in Nay Pyi Taw, and those present at the event were Union Ministers Dr Myo Thein Gyi and Dr Myint Htwe, Deputy Minister Dr Mya Lay Sein, Permanent Secretary Professor Dr Thet Khaing Win and department heads.

Today is a historic and milestone day for our health sector in our country. The reason I can say this is because beginning from October 2020, HPV vaccine (Human Papillomavirus Vaccine) has been included as the 13th vaccine in the regular vaccination programme of the Ministry of Health and Sports and 450,000 young girls between the ages of 9 to 10 years will be vaccinated on a nationwide scale in the wards and villages of regions, states and townships. The HPV vaccine can prevent cervical cancer caused by the Human Papillomavirus (HPV).

State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi inspected the third voting practical demonstration in Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory yesterday morning. The demonstrations were organized to ensure the voting process adhere to healthcare guidelines of COVID-19 containment measures during the 2020 General Election. On arrival at the primary school in Chin Village in Ottarathiri Township in the morning, the State Counsellor and party were welcomed by Chairman of the Union Election Commission U Hla Thein, Union Minister for Office of the Union Government U Min Thu, Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Myint Htwe, Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council Dr Myo Aung, members of UEC, Deputy Minister Dr Mya Lay Sein and officials.

1. On this day, five years ago, the Union Government and the leaders of the EAOs (Ethnic Armed Organizations) signed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement. To achieve lasting peace, we have firmly resolved to complete the agreed tasks of the NCA together without fail, based on duty, responsibility and transparency. It could be said that we have walked on the NCA path on the road to peace for five years.
