THE Ministry of Information and the Yangon Region Government held a meeting to launch a broadcast media City Channel yesterday afternoon.

The meeting held at the office of Myanmar Radio and Television was attended by Union Minister Dr Pe Myint and Yangon Region Government Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein.

Union Minister Dr Pe Myint explained quality upgrade of MRTV, working with Forever Group and Shwe Than Lwin media and five content providers Mizzima, DVB, Channel K, YTV and Fortune TV.

He also remarked the City Channel would become an effective TV channel with very interesting news of Yangon city.

Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein presented broadcasting and publishing City FM and City Newspaper under the management of Yangon City Development Committee, and preparations for transforming the latter into online digital version and launching a TV channel which can support for public education in cooperation with MRTV.

Deputy Mayor of YCDC U Soe Lwin briefed on the objectives of City Channel.
Permanent Secretary U Myo Myint Maung held talks on possible plans for broadcast of Yangon City Channel and other TV channels and content providers.

The meeting also discussed assistance of Ministry of Information and coordination of the ministry and the Yangon government to launch the new channel.
After the meeting, Union Minister Dr Pe Myint, Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein and officials looked around Studio 1 and newsroom.
