MEMBERS of the State Administration Council Dr Banya Aung Moe and Mahn Nyein Maung, Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung, Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs U Saw Tun Aung Myint, Chief Minister of Mon State U Zaw Lin Tun, state ministers and officials inspected the Myanmar Lighting (IPP) Power Plant in Mawlamyine at 1 pm yesterday.
First, Company Chairman U Sein Wann, explained the supply of electricity in Mon and Kayin states, and the generation and distribution of 179 mW of electricity with four gas turbines and two steam turbines.
Members of the State Administration Council thanked the concerted efforts to meet the electricity needs of the people and called for further efforts to meet the electricity needs.
Next, members of the State Administration Council inspected the construction of the new Attaran Bridge by the Department of Bridges under the JICA ODA Loan on the East-West Business Corridor.
At the project briefing, U Kyaw Swa Tun, Chief Engineer (Civil) of the Department of Bridges, explained the project activities and the members of the State Administration Council asked questions.
The new Attaran Bridge project is 326 metres long and its approaching bridge is 154 metres long. It is a three-span steel cable-stayed bridge type.
An adjacent bridge is a two-storey pre-reinforced concrete bridge-type constructed of T-shaped pre-reinforced concrete.
The bridge is 20.7 metres wide and has four lanes. The bridge permits tonnes of HL -93 Loading (AASHTO), and 60 tonnes is allowed per vehicle. The project period will take 39 months and now 1.63 per cent has been completed.
