THE Ministry of Hotels and Tourism yesterday morning organized an opening ceremony of the ‘COVID-19 Safe Service Master Trainer’ and ‘Inspector Training for Inspection’ via videoconferencing yesterday morning.
Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism U Ohn Maung, Deputy Minister U Tin Latt, the Directors-General, other senior officials, representatives from Myanmar Tourism Federation, officials from other relevant organizations, trainers and trainees attended the ceremony via videoconferencing.
During the ceremony, video messages from Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Myint Htwe and Union Minister for Labour, Immigration and Population U Thein Swe were shown.
Union Minister U Ohn Maung said that his Ministry had drafted the COVID-19 Tourism Relief Plan in line with the government’s COVID-19 Economic Relief Plan(CERP) in order to restart and revive the tourism industry that was stopped because of COVID-19 crisis.
He stressed that travellers and staff members who will provide services to travellers need to be healthy and safe. So the ‘National Tourism Guidelines’ has been issued in line with instructions by the Ministry of Health and Sports, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture, and the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism.
The “Enchanting Myanmar Health and Safety Protocol” was also developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Sports to make Myanmar a safe destination for tourists.
Regular and casual inspections will be made to check whether tourism businesses are operated in line with the National Tourism Guidelines. Training will be provided to nurture COVID-19 Safe Service Master Trainers and COVID-19 related inspectors.
Those who pass the tests will be allowed to use ‘Safe Tourism Myanmar Stamp’ recognized by the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, according to Union Minister U Ohn Maung.
When travel restrictions are relaxed, in order to restart tourism businesses on sightseeing flight trips, river cruises and caravan tours, the officials will conduct necessary checks in line with Health and Safety Protocol, said Union Minister U Ohn Maung.
There are 30 trainees in one training session, and a total of 10 training sessions will be provided.
