The Myanmar delegation, led by Union Chief Justice U Tha Htay, attended the “13th Meeting of the Council of ASEAN Chief Justices” held in Thailand from 21 to 24 July 2026 at the invitation of Mr Adisak Tantiwong, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Thailand.

The Council of ASEAN Chief Justices (CACJ) Meeting has been convened annually since 2013 and was attended by the Chief Justices and heads of the judiciaries of ASEAN Member States.

On 22 July 2026, the Myanmar delegation led by the Chief Justice of the Union attended the 13th Council of ASEAN Chief Justices (CACJ) Meeting, hosted by the Supreme Court of Thailand at the InterContinental Bangkok. During the meeting, Union Chief Justice U Tha Htay delivered opening remarks together with the other ASEAN Chief Justices and heads of delegation. Then CACJ Working Groups on the ASEAN Judiciaries Portal, Civil Proceedings, Case Management and Court Technology, Judicial Training and Education, Cross-border Disputes Involving Children, Conduct of Video Conferencing Hearings, ASEAN + Meetings and the Climate Justice presented their reports regarding the activities undertaken by each Working Group, the achievements made and proposals for future work, which were submitted to the Council for consideration and approval. During the meeting, Union Chief Justice U Tha Htay also participated in discussions on matters relating to Myanmar’s judiciary. Following the conclusion of the meeting, the Chief Justices and heads of delegation of the ASEAN Member States jointly signed and adopted the Bangkok Declaration, which represents the outcome document of the 13th Council of ASEAN Chief Justices Meeting.

The meeting was attended by the Union Chief Justice together with officials from the Supreme Court of the Union of Myanmar.
