Myanmar deported four Indians, four Indonesians, three Bangladeshis, one Burundian, one Rwandan and one Laotian, totalling 14 individuals, involved in telecom fraud and other criminal activities in Kayin State via the Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Bridge II yesterday.
Myanmar authorities officially handed the deportees the necessary legal documents to ensure their smooth repatriation.
Among the remaining 1,207 individuals to be deported, there are 746 who were charged under Myanmar Immigration (Emergency) Provisions Act section 3 (1)/13(1) and Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropics Substances Law, and 461 individuals are currently under detention while awaiting repatriation.
The government is strictly cracking down on online scams and online gambling by cooperating with other countries, including neighbouring countries.
