The opening ceremony of the Staff Professional Development Refresher Training Course was held yesterday morning at the Financial Regulatory Department, Office 34 in Nay Pyi Taw.
The opening ceremony was attended by Dr Kan Zaw, Union Minister for Finance and Revenue, Daw Than Than Lin and U Han Win Aung, Deputy Ministers for Finance and Revenue, Heads of Departments, guests, trainers and trainees.
At the ceremony, Union Minister Dr Kan Zaw highlighted that the course will help staff better understand the country’s economic objectives and policies, reform processes, and plans of the Ministry of Finance and Revenue, and enhance their capacity in their workplaces. Moreover, he also highlighted that the course will also provide the staff with a better understanding and expertise in civil service law, rules, financial procedures and the responsibilities of the department, such as supervising and inspecting microfinance companies, supervising private insurance companies, implementing anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing programmes, supervising the state lottery industry and state-owned banks.
The Union minister encouraged the staff that it is the right thing to seek education at a younger age in line with the motto of the National Defence and Security Council: “ Let’s encourage production for the prosperity of the nation, Let’s ensure the education sector for the development of the nation, and Let’s protect our environment for the prosperity of the nation”.
He guided that, in civil service, staff must strive to broaden their thinking by reading more books outside their routine work, so that they can develop professional skills on par with international standards.
Altogether, 38 staff members from the Financial Regulatory Department will attend the course, and it will last four weeks.
