The 2,628-foot reinforced concrete Chindwin Bridge (Htamanthi), with a 40-foot water clearance, is designed to enhance the socioeconomic well-being of residents in Homalin District and the Naga Self-Administered Zone by facilitating development initiatives, expediting the transport of domestic products, and strengthening the education, health and economic sectors.
A ceremony to inaugurate the Chindwin Bridge (Htamanthi) took place at the bridge in Htamanthi Village of Homalin Township, Sagaing Region, yesterday morning, attended by Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and State Security and Peace Commission Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
At the auspicious time, Commission Secretary General Ye Win Oo, Union ministers U Mya Tun Oo, U Min Naung and U Myo Thant and Sagaing Region Chief Minister U Myat Kyaw cut the ribbon to open the bridge.
The Senior General unveiled the plaque of the bridge and sprinkled scented water on it together with the Commission Secretary.
The Union Minister for Construction presented a gift to mark the opening of the bridge to the Senior General. Afterwards, the Senior General presented cash awards to students and ethnic dance troupes.
The Senior General and the party had documentary photos taken in commemoration of the opening of the bridge and strolled along the bridge.
The Senior General asked resident who attended the bridge inauguration ceremony about the socioeconomic conditions and cordially greeted them.
Also, present at the ceremony were Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, wife of the Senior General, the wife of the Commission Secretary, Union ministers and their wives, Sagaing Region Chief Minister U Myat Kyaw, senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives, the commander of North-West Command and deputy ministers.
Chindwin Bridge (Htamanthi) is 2,628 feet long and is of reinforced concrete. Its water clearance is 40 feet high. Construction of Chindwin Bridge (Htamanthi) aims to contribute to the improvement of the socioeconomic life of people residing in Homalin District and Naga Self-Administered Zone, development undertakings and swift transport of domestic products, and improvement of education, health and economic sectors.
