Oral hearings in the case between The Gambia and Myanmar are currently held at the International Court of Justice in The Hague, the Netherlands, from 12 to 29 January, with Myanmar’s second round of submissions having begun at 3 pm local time on 28 January.

Myanmar’s legal team responded to questions from the judges and argued that the evidence presented by The Gambia lacks sufficient credibility.

Myanmar’s Lead Counsel and Advocate, Mr Christopher Staker, first delivered the opening statement of Myanmar’s second round of oral arguments.

Myanmar’s lawyer, Mr David Hooper, then presented his submission while Myanmar’s lawyer, Ms Leigh Lawrie, responded to questions from Judge Brent.

The second round of arguments by Myanmar was held at 10 am local time yesterday.
