A ceremony to hoist the State flag was held in conjunction with the State flag saluting ceremony in honour of the 78th Anniversary of Independence Day 2026 at the square of the Nay Pyi Taw City Hall yesterday morning.
The flag-hoisting platoon flanked by ethnic people hoisted the State flag at 4:20 am. At 6 am, Union-level dignitaries, Union ministers, Union-level organization members, senior Tatmadaw officers, deputy ministers, departmental heads and people took the positions at the square. The Guard of Honour of Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) took the position at the square.
Chairman of the Central Committee for Holding the 78th Anniversary of Independence Day State Security and Peace Commission member Prime Minister Zeya Kyaw Htin Thray Sithu U Nyo Saw took the salute of the Guard of Honour.
The Prime Minister and attendees together with the Guard of Honour saluted the State flag and paid tributes to the fellen leaders and comrades. They then recited fourpoint oath. The Prime Minister read the message sent by Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar State Security and Peace Commission Chairman Senior General Thadoe Maha Thray Sithu Thadoe Thiri Thudhamma Min Aung Hlaing to the 78th Anniversary of Independence Day ceremony.
The Prime Minister took the salute of the Guard of Honour, and the ceremony came to an end.
The 78th Anniversary of Independence Day 2026 was held in line with the national objectives: To safeguard the non-disintegration of the Union, non-disintegration of national solidarity and perpetuation of sovereignty by all citizens, as they are the most essential and suitable national objectives and national duties; to strive forward for national unity and Union peace to implement sustainable and balanced development; to establish a genuine, disciplined democratic system completely by exercising the freedom and justice in accordance with the laws and regulations; and to advance other economic sectors and promote MSMEs based on regional products.
