I am Daw Sanda Oo, Chairperson of the Peace & Diversity Party (PDP). Our Peace & Diversity Party (PDP) has been established since 22 March 2010. Then, we reapplied for registration of the party under the election law of the Union Election Commission on 28 March 2023. The UEC allowed registration of our party on 15 July 2024.
Our party had experienced participation of candidates in the 2010 election, 2015 election and 2020 election organized by the Union Election Commission. Candidates of our party will compete in the 2025 election.
Concerning the policy and work procedures of our party, our party has adopted the policy “Humanist Democratic Nationalism”.
(1) We will not turn a blind eye to the interests of humankind.
(2) We will abide by democratic principles.
(3) We will give the first priority to the interests of the taxpayer citizens.
Our party has abandoned the habit of seeing fellow humans as enemies and has identified new adversaries. These are under development, emerging diseases, natural disasters, unemployment, and ignorance. Our party is committed to confronting these challenges continuously and persistently.
Esteemed people,
Among the five adversaries we have identified, ignorance is the most harmful. That is why we continually clarify matters related to politics and political systems. Humans think, plan, and create innovations, and because human ideas are diverse and develop in complex ways, people adopt different goals and approaches. These processes should not be controlled or dominated. Similarly, differences in perspective should not lead to enmity. As citizens, once basic needs are fulfilled, it should be up to each person how they choose to experience and build their lives. We do not wish for people to oppress or harm one another simply because of differing ideas or beliefs.
Esteemed people,
We should not attack or be hostile to one another because of our differences; instead, we should lead by example, live together peacefully, and coexist in mutual respect.
Esteemed people,
Our party believes that the private sector plays a vital role in national development. We recognize that every person is different in terms of physical, mental, moral, wealth, and social background, and we accept the natural differences in prosperity and poverty. We also believe that communist-style ideas, which suggest that if everyone cannot be equally wealthy, everyone must be equally poor, hinder national development. In running their businesses, private entrepreneurs do not work solely with their own families; from cleaners at the lowest level to top managers, they employ workers across all levels. Therefore, when businesses and enterprises of major entrepreneurs in a country prosper and grow, job opportunities increase for many people.
Esteemed people,
Our country achieved independence by resisting British colonial rule, studying, reading, and spreading works on socialist and communist ideas, and thereby gaining freedom. After gaining independence in 1948, it was established as a multiparty democratic nation. However, during that period, those in political leadership positions who dominated were mostly influenced by socialist and communist literature and culture. As a result, that era of democracy essentially reflected the type of democracy promoted by socialist and communist ideologies.
However, the private enterprises that remained under the former colonial rulers also continued to operate effectively.
Esteemed people,
Economic policies based on socialism and communism took a leading role in the production and service sectors operated by the State. Production and service activities of the private sector were not allowed. After 1988, the Tatmadaw government gradually extended permissions for the private enterprises.
The youth who were born after 1988 cannot understand that the activity of the gradual establishment of private businesses led to the transformation of the system. It is because they did not know the old system.
In 2010, the Tatmadaw government opened a new chapter of democracy. At that time, the government of President U Thein Sein came into power and expanded opportunities for private enterprises. As a result, farmers gained land-use rights under the Form 7 system, private fuel stations were allowed to open, private airlines and bus companies grew and prospered, private banks flourished, private hospitals and schools expanded, and private telecom companies were established and developed.
Esteemed people,
The world proved that the private market economic system is the most proper for Myanmar to keep abreast of the global countries in order to achieve the State’s economic development.
Esteemed people,
The people are likely aware that, in another major country, a private entrepreneur operates Starlink satellites through his own business. This practical example demonstrates that strong and capable private enterprises can create numerous job opportunities, ensuring employment and income for the population. Therefore, the Peace & Diversity Party (PDP) will consistently advocate for greater opportunities for private businesses to expand, in order to promote national economic development.
Esteemed people,
Our Peace & Diversity Party (PDP), while calling for a cessation of the ongoing armed conflicts, is working together with the current government under a peaceful political framework, intending to promote the development of local ethnic communities as well as ensure peace and stability.
Esteemed people,
The people residing across the nation are experiencing the bad impacts of armed conflicts. Hence, I would like to urge all to face each other in the political arena with dialogue instead of armed conflicts.
Esteemed people,
Our Peace & Diversity Party (PDP) will uphold the rights to diversity, ensuring the protection of ethnic and religious freedoms. Any ethnic or religious practices that deny these rights will be opposed and rejected on the basis of ideologies.
Esteemed people,
The policy of our party is based on a ‘humane democratic citizenship’ principle. Accordingly, we will uphold and protect all human-centred ideologies and prevent any actions intended to incite hostility among people, from a national perspective.
Esteemed people,
The 2025 general election is approaching. We urge the public to select and nominate individuals from the political parties of their choice so that political forces committed to advancing national interests can gain seats in Hluttaw and help build a modern, developed democratic nation. The symbol of our party is an image widely circulated on the internet, featuring red, yellow, green, and blue colours. It signifies our aim to spread our political literature, activities, and messages through modern communication tools.
Esteemed people,
The election is extremely important given the current situation of the nation. Only when a free and fair election is held, and Hluttaw is formed in accordance with the law, can our country be free from international economic sanctions and political domination, allowing the emergence of a modern, developed nation. The Union Election Commission is also making every effort to ensure a free and fair election. Since it is the people who choose the government to lead them, we urge everyone to select individuals from political parties that prioritize national interests.
