As the government of Myanmar is prioritizing the elimination of telecom fraud and online gambling, which pose a threat to the global and international community, as part of its national duty.

While working to eliminate telecom fraud and online gambling, starting in October, Mulaei Alin Company and Tran-Asia International Holding Group (Thailand) began operations in the Myawady-Maehtawthalay (KK Park) area. Moreover, to show reasons for carrying out regional economic development, a project was established in the Shwe Kokko area, which had previously been halted. From the morning of 18 November, combined operation teams, including security forces and administrative bodies, have been carrying out operations in these areas.

In these efforts, those involved in telecom fraud and online gambling who have been apprehended are being properly scrutinized and systematically handed over to the relevant countries. To ensure that telecom fraud and online gambling cannot reestablish themselves in the region and to prevent further criminal activities, unauthorized structures in the area are being completely demolished. These demolitions are carried out systematically using machinery and advanced technological methods to dismantle and destroy the buildings effectively.

As of 6 pm yesterday, out of 635 structures used for online scams and gambling in the Myawady-Maehtawthalay (KK Park) area, 170 have been completely demolished, and the remaining 465 structures are continuing to be dismantled.

The elimination activities were carried out in the Shwe Kokko area starting yesterday. Yesterday’s processes continued till 6 pm to arrest 184 Chinese citizens, three Malaysians, 14 Filipinos, two Nepalese, six Thai citizens, seven Vietnamese, one Nigerian and 48 Indonesians, totalling 265 from 13 buildings constructed without permit. Moreover, a total of 2,339 computers, 2,950 mobile phones and a large number of industrial accessories used in committing telecom fraud and online gambling were also seized there. According to the information on wiping the Shwe Kokko area off, a total of 611 foreign nationals under scrutiny living in Myanmar illegally were arrested together with 2,653 computers, 19,650 mobile phones and a large number of industrial materials used in the telecom fraud and online gambling. The combined teams continue the elimination operation.
Those arrested foreign citizens are being detained at the building in Lonhtinwun of Shwe Kokko Village, Pulwepu Village-tract in Myawady Township. The Illegal Foreigner Investigation Team verified 200 foreign nationals. Moreover, compilation of biographies and records of those arrestees is being conducted by departmental teams so as to hand over those arrestees to the relevant countries as quickly as possible.

The government has taken the elimination of telecom fraud and online gambling as a national duty. Efforts will continue to ensure that such activities cannot take root within the country, in coordination not only with domestic forces but also with the governments of neighbouring countries.
