1. First and foremost, I extend my greetings and wish that all working people may be blessed with peace of mind and good health.
I am U Kyaw Zin, serving as the Chairman of the Public of Labour Party, and I am here to speak on behalf of our party. Our party was founded in 2017, and it has now been over eight years since its establishment. Those who are close to the party and the working people who sought help from our party know that the Public of Labour Party has assisted the working people to the best of our abilities and knowledge, operating strictly within the framework of the law during these eight years. Our party participated in the 2018 by-elections and the 2020 general elections. During the time of the current government, our party re-registered under the new Political Parties Registration Law, with a plan to stage the campaign in the Yangon Region. In this general election, I, U Kyaw Zin, will compete in the Dagon Myothit (East) Township constituency, U Yan Naung Soe Myint in the Dagon Myothit (North) Township constituency, and U Nyunt Win in the Shwepyitha Township constituency for the Pyithu Hluttaw.
2. Esteemed working people, I will first present the basic policy and programme of our party. Since its establishment, the primary policy of our party has been to ensure that all citizens and working people enjoy equal rights under the law and are free from discrimination in any form. We also wish to point out that, both before and after the 2020 election, whether individually as a party or collectively with other parties, we repeatedly reported to the Election Commission at the time about irregularities in voter outreach and inaccuracies in the voter lists. Despite these repeated reports, our concerns were ignored. As a result, everyone is aware that due to inaccuracies in the voter lists and election irregularities during the 2020 general election, Tatmadaw had to assume control of state power. Therefore, under the current government, in accordance with the established programmes, not only political parties but the entire working populace must actively participate in the upcoming general election. This way, they can reclaim their rights through their own efforts and help put the country back on the path of multiparty democracy.
3. Fundamentally, compared to neighbouring countries, our nation has fallen behind in development, which we attribute to the hardships caused by internal conflicts. The working people can witness that in conflict-affected areas, sectors such as education and healthcare have been delayed and disrupted, while in other regions, economic development has not progressed as it should, and social standards remain low. Furthermore, for durable peace and the ending of internal armed conflicts, ethnic groups need to take mutual responsibility, demonstrate accountability, and build understanding with one another. Only when inter-ethnic solidarity, mutual respect and affection, and cooperative support consistently develop can our Union endure permanently without disintegration. So, our Public of Labour Party will fully support the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) as the sole pathway toward achieving the durable peace that the State is implementing. Moreover, we also emphasize that all citizens need to actively participate with genuine patriotism to make this effort successful.
4. Esteemed working people, in countries where the socioeconomic development is lagging and poverty is widespread, often struggle to meet their basic needs, depending on salaries due to unemployment and high prices of goods. For this reason, we believe it is essential to address rising prices by producing domestically as much as possible, rather than relying on imports to meet internal demand. According to reports, to meet the country’s electricity needs, the State has been able to cooperate with Russia to produce electricity using nuclear energy. The Head of State’s recent visit to Russia enabled this collaboration, which will help fulfil our nation’s energy requirements. Regarding the essential technology needed, it is crucial for our citizens to be educated. When discussing the national education sector, we must also include the national healthcare sector. Without adequate health, education cannot progress, and no other matters can be addressed effectively. In implementing the national healthcare sector, the health of today’s youth is particularly important. Looking at the development of today’s young generation, we are not satisfied with the development of today’s younger generation. Primarily, ensuring that young people grow up healthy and strong requires a focus on keeping them free from drugs and promoting proper health activities. For these reasons, our Public of Labour Party will continue to emphasize and promote national education and healthcare from a national perspective, giving them priority, and the party will do its utmost to provide assistance and support wherever possible.
5. Esteemed working people, I will now continue to present the political policy of our Public of Labour Party. Our party firmly guarantees that we will never betray the national cause. We will never encroach on any ethnicity or religion, nor will we tolerate anyone else doing so. I want to emphasize that when working to strengthen and sustain the political stability for the sake of the Union, we are willing to cooperate with any organization that remains loyal to national interests. Most importantly, we will work hand in hand with the Myanmar Tatmadaw in organizing and operating the national politics, which protects our three main national causes.
6. Continuing with the discussion on the general sector, when we look back at the history of our Union, where multiple ethnic groups have lived together, we can see that only when workers, farmers, government employees, and students carry out their duties responsibly and diligently in their respective roles will the nation achieve progress in a balanced and orderly manner. We must learn lessons from these past incidents and work together to prevent similar occurrences in the future so as to protect the future of our youth and safeguard the interests of the Union as a whole.
7. For a country to develop, people must be free from corruption. For the public servants to be free from corruption, government employees must have sufficient means to support their families and meet their basic needs. In order to cope with rising prices in line with modern development, public servants must receive adequate salaries so that they can maintain a decent standard of living. As an example from our surroundings, we see retired public servants who dedicated their entire lives to serving the nation, but upon reaching retirement age, have no proper housing. Regrettably, they struggle with high rental costs and pensions that do not keep up with living expenses, leaving them in hardship in their old age. According to recent reports, we are very pleased to see the Head of State visiting and inspecting the implementation of housing for war veterans. Similarly, as the Public of Labour Party, we would like to state that we will continue to advocate and work to ensure that retired public servants, including former members of the Myanmar police force and other dedicated national employees, can live their later years in comfort and security.
8. As our Public of Labour Party has never made deceptive promises about what we will do for the working people. Nor do we offer them mere dreams. Dreams are like illusions that vanish when one wakes up. What we can firmly pledge, as the Public of Labour Party, is that we will use all our capabilities to stand with the working people and confront injustice according to the law. Furthermore, we urge the working people to exercise their voting rights responsibly, going to the polling stations to ensure that a genuine, disciplined, and fully democratic nation emerges.
