Deputy Minister for Construction U Myo Myint, together with responsible officials, met staff of the Buildings Department yesterday morning and inspected progress on the construction of the National Cancer Treatment Agency’s Oncology Unit in Yangon Region.
At the meeting held at the Oncology Unit conference hall, officials from the Buildings Department and special teams reported on their duties. The Deputy Minister urged staff to work in line with the ministry’s goals to support nationwide road, transport and infrastructure development, to uphold the six-point civil service oath, and to adhere to civil service ethics and discipline. He called on officials to perform their duties with a family spirit, to ensure successful implementation, and to become trustworthy public servants.
An engineer from Special Task Force 1 of the Buildings Department then explained works completed in the 2025-2026 financial year, including urban, water supply and electrical infrastructure, along with upcoming plans. The deputy minister instructed officials to construct shear walls and secondary beams in line with structural designs and under close supervision by the quality control team to ensure earthquake-resilience. He also emphasized maintaining a clean, pleasant hospital environment for patients and ensuring proper drainage around the facility.

The deputy minister and officials later toured the construction site together with the hospital superintendent, checking detailed works and instructing teams to ensure high-quality materials and neat workmanship.

The building is an eight-storey structure aimed at providing timely cancer treatment for the public. Radiation treatment rooms on the ground floor are already operational, and the remaining floors are scheduled to be completed within the current financial year. MNA/KZL
