A delegation led by Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of Myanmar U Lwin Oo, attended the 21st Principals Meeting of the ASEAN Parties Against Corruption (ASEAN-PAC), held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 28 to 30 October.
On the first day of the meeting on 28 October, Malaysian Chief Commissioner Mr Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Hj. Azam Baki presided over the event and confirmed the minutes from the 20th ASEAN-PAC meeting, while the previous rotating chair of Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) General Commissioner reported on the anti-corruption activities of ASEAN-PAC conducted between December 2024 to July 2025. The member countries discussed the work implementation plans for 2023-2025, and revised and amended the ASEAN-PAC 2026-2028 plans.
The ACC Chair highlighted the adverse impacts of corruption on the public, the importance of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) in anti-corruption efforts, ongoing anti-corruption strategies and action plans in Myanmar, the effectiveness of the Myanmar Anti-Corruption Law, the commission’s three key mandates and related initiatives and other preventive measures against corruption.
On the second day of the meeting, the participants, international organizations and the community discussed anti-corruption measures in respective ASEAN countries, and the ACC chairman discussed further cooperation to strengthen the ASEAN-PAC.
MACC’s Chief Commissioner, Mr Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Hj. Azam Baki made a concluding remark, and the ACC chairman expressed gratitude for approving Myanmar to be the host country of the meeting and willingness to meet again in Nay Pyi Taw. In the afternoon, the ACC participated in a side event – a showcase of prevention work.
The ACC chair attended the third day of the meeting and participated in the tour arranged by MACC.
The ACC chair met the principals and representatives of the anti-corruption commissions of Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia and Thailand, and openly discussed the enhancement of cooperation in combatting corruption.
The Myanmar delegation arrived back in Yangon yesterday afternoon.
