A Myanmar delegation, led by Union Minister for Electric Power U Nyan Tun, who is in Suzhou City, the People’s Republic of China, attended the International Forum on Energy Transition 2025 on 24 October 2025. The forum was organized by the National Energy Administration of China and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).

At the forum, Mr Wang Hongzhi, Chairman of the National Energy Administration of China, Mr Francesco La Camela, Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), and Mr Liu Qitao, Governor of Jiangsu Province, attended and delivered opening addresses.

Union Minister U Nyan Tun delivered a welcome and greeting address. He stated that in today’s era, all face numerous environmental challenges, and energy security impacting the global environment is one of the priority issues for all humanity.

In addition to large-scale projects to address the impacts of carbon emissions, this includes implementing small-scale renewable energy projects, sharing resources, and new clean energies such as nuclear energy. He also highlighted the efforts of Myanmar regarding the electrification projects.

The Union Minister and party met with the delegation led by Mr Wang Hongzhi, Chairman of the National Energy Administration (NEA). They discussed further enhancement of bilateral cooperation regarding hydropower projects, cross-border power line projects, and China-Myanmar cooperative power projects, aiming to foster collaborative efforts in the electric power sector.
